Quille lamellée en Iroko / Iroko laminated Keel
Etrave / Stem, laminated with 10 mm thick iroko ply, on the mold, then shaped, to fit the keel.
Taille de la rablure à l'herminette/ rabbet cut with an adze.
Dérive /Centerboard
Membrure, toute la structure est lamellée . La membrure est ensuite tranchée en deux afin d'obtenir les membrures tribord et babord parfaitement symetriques / Frame mould. The entire structure is laminated. The laminated frame is then cut in two pieces in order to have a perfect symetry port/starboard.

It weights 300 kg, and is screwed and bolted to the frames and keel, on a 3M putty bed.

Then starts the building process:
First layer, Hemlock strip planking:
Made with longitudinal bead and cove strips (25x35 mm), resorcinol glued and nailed to frames and toghether (every 10 cm).
After fairing the striplanking, the mahogany first cold moulded ply is laid. 4 mm thick.
The staples have to be removed before the second ply.

The last ply: Iroko "classic" planking, screwed on 3M putty.

The armorial bearing comes from the army corp Mr Bernier belonged to, during Indochina war, 1946.
It will be kept out of respect for the first owner, as part of the boat's story.
The mermaids and the whole carving are gold leafed.
